Not too long ago a member of our customer service team received a panicked call from a Merlin Digital Asset Management System user who had accidentally deleted a project or collection. This wasn’t just a personal project, but a shared project that the whole department used. And it wasn’t just a single project, but a folder encompassing multiple projects. As any of our team would say, the response was “I can help you with that, just tell me the name of the project.”
Has this ever happened to you? It’s OK to admit it. Perhaps you were working and clicking through things, and then before you knew it you clicked past what may have been a warning message and your project is gone. Your hard working hours are lost. You think you may have to start over. And that’s where we come in. We know that mistakes happen, and we got you and your work covered. All we need to know is the name of your project. Even if you can’t remember the exact name, we’ll find it.
We know the ever-present role that projects play in getting work done and that many of our users live in their projects on a daily basis. On the inside, we store information that protects those projects and folders. When a project or folder is deleted, it becomes hidden from users, but it’s still in the database. A flag on it has been set to mark it for deletion at a later date. We remove the flag and the project will be back right where it was, safe and sound. After all, our job is to make your job easier. No worries.
Make sure your Digital Asset Management system has safeguards for the whoops factor, as a DAM vendor we know just how valuable that is.
