We have received some great comments and follow-up questions as a result of one of our recent blogs titled “How to shop for your DAM software”. Due to the responses, follow-up inquiries and questions we receive on a regular basis in RFP’s and at our trade shows, we have decided to dive a bit deeper into some of these technical operations oriented questions in hopes of giving people a deeper understanding of what it takes to run a world-class Software as a Service (SaaS) environment.
In order to get the most accurate perspective, the MerlinOne Technical Operations team has decided that the topic is just simply too large to try to tackle in a single blog or whitepaper, so over the next few months they are going to author a series of blogs that will take an in-depth look at some of the fundamental building blocks that any enterprise hosted DAM system should employ. The series is going to be centered on the three core questions any person should be asking themselves when contemplating the benefits of putting your DAM system in the cloud:
- Are my assets going to be safe?
- Are they going to be there when I need it?
- Can I get the expert help when I need it?
The list of topics is designed to provoke thought and introduce discrete topics that should enable you to begin a dialogue when determining your needs and deciding on the correct partner. We recognize that these decisions are of paramount importance and want to make sure that you have the tools to decide if the product offering you are evaluating is of substantial quality and value or simply smoke and mirrors. Here is an outline of the topics that will be discussed in the coming weeks:
- Systems Security
- Data & Asset Protection
- Scalable Architecture
- Unparalleled Performance
- Aggressive Problem Response &
- Communication
- Application Security
- Service Reliability
- Highly Available Systems
- Self Service Capabilities
