One of our home town heroes was in the newspaper this past week for receiving a humanitarian award. Adam Wainwright, a St. Louis Cardinal’s pitching star, and a graduate of the same high school my kids are now attending, received the Hutch Award. Wainwright’s charitable work includes building an orphanage in Haiti after the earthquake, installing clean water systems in Honduras and helping feed needy families in St. Louis and the county where I live in Georgia.
The Hutch Award has been given annually since 1965 to the pro ballplayer who best exemplifies the spirit of Fred Hutchinson, a pitcher and manager who lost his life to cancer.
Adam Wainwright, winning the Hutch Award on Jan. 27, 2016 at Safeco Field in Seattle, Wash. Wainwright is the recipient of the 51st Hutch Award.

Now here is the work connection. Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center is one of our customers that use Merlin to manage their digital assets. The research center, located in Seattle, has raised more than $4.8 million dollars over the past 16 years through the annual Hutch Award luncheon. I think that is fantastic.
The research center’s mission , taken from the https://www.fredhutch.org site, is “the elimination of cancer and related diseases as causes of human suffering and death. Fred Hutch conducts research of the highest standards to improve prevention and treatment of cancer and related diseases.”
I have been touched personally by family and friends’ deaths from cancer and I am proud that with the Merlin DAM SaaS system in use, the Fred Hutch marketing teams job of fundraising and public awareness is just a little bit easier. They deserve all the help they can get.
